Pocklington GP group affected in global IT outage

GP surgeries around the country have reported being unable to access patient records or book appointments

GP surgeries have said they are unable to access patient records or book appointments due to the major global IT outage.

NHS England has been contacted for comment after practices took to social media to report they cannot access the EMIS Web system.

EMIS Web is the most widely used clinical system for primary care in the UK.

Pocklington Group Practice in the East Riding said: "Due to ongoing Windows issues affecting IT worldwide, the practice is currently unable to function as normal.

Other surgeries in Cheshire, the West Midlands and the Lake District have also posted online reporting problems.

Globally, businesses and institutions have been knocked offline, with Sky News off-air and Britain's biggest train company warning passengers to expect disruption.
