Bridlington's already noticing the effects of its starring role in the new Dad's Army film.

More people are reported to have been visiting the town to see the cobbled High Street where much of the 1940s film was shot.

The movie isn't released in UK cinemas until Friday, but tonight - the local premiere takes place at The Spa.

Set in wartime Britain, stars include Catherine Zeta Jones, Bill Nighy, Toby Jones, Sir Tom Courtenay and Sir Michael Gambon.

Bridlington Town Crier David Hinde who also features in the film says it's already provided a big tourism boost for the seaside resort. He told us:

"The hotel groups that are now moving into the resort, all spurred on by the investment confidence that has been generated by the film. We have had three pubs refurbish themselves in the Old Town area and we have also found that house prices in the area have now risen.

"We have already seen last Summer, people coming up to see the location after the filming had taken place and record bookings were reported in the town as a result of the influx of people and we expect that will happen again and we are very much gearing up for that.

"Infact we have just had a couple of enquiries from a couple of coach companies already talking to us about bringing people up to the Old Town and that is early days. I do expect we are going to see more people coming up for short and long breaks to Bridlington."
