Eyewitness have described seeing a huge smoke-ball rising into the air, after a fire broke out at a commercial building in Patrington this morning.
Images and video shared to social media show a large plume of smoke visible for miles around.
Residents living nearby were advised to close doors and windows.
Eyewitness Vinnie Stokes, who manages holiday lodges at Lux Lets, said: "I was working on our lodges when we saw a smoke-ball rising. It almost looked like an atom bomb.
"We're about a mile away so I took a drive up. The fire was behind the Station Pub.
"There were small explosions but nothing ear-shattering, it was just continuous pops and crackles and bursts of flames. The fire was huge up close, with thick black smoke."
Humberside Fire and Rescue said they received a call to a building fire just after 9.00am, with the fire well established.
In a statement issued just before midday, the force said: "We have five fire engines in attendance along with specialist equipment. Our firefighters have prevented the fire from spreading are working to extinguish it.
"This is an ongoing incident, and we are advising local residents and motorists to keep their windows and doors shut. Please keep an eye for our emergency vehicles travelling on the A1033, Station Road.
"Please note due to wind direction the smoke plume is heading towards Ottringham and Keyingham."
The number of appliances at the scene has since reduced, but crews are expected to remain in attendance for some time. There are no reports of any injuries.
The A1033 Withernsea Rd has now reopened to traffic.
