Scunthorpe United have announced a change of ownership.

Majority shareholder Michelle Harness will now become joint owner along with 3 other directors.

She'll remain as chairperson.

Michelle Harness has allocated shares to Roj Rahman, George Aitkenhead and Ian Sharp,

They'll now become joint owners with immediate effect.

The club has also revealed that they've made "significant strides" in bringing down the debt they inherited and hope to make further progress in the near future.

Issues about the stadium were resolved

Scunthorpe United have suffered numerous problems in recent years both on and off the pitch.

A dispute saw the team facing the prospect of having to leave their Glanford Park ground.

However last year Michelle Harness took over as owner and issues about the stadium were resolved.

Things seemed to be looking up for the team after 2 successive relegations left them in the national league north.

Last season's campaign was promising with the Iron top of the table for a large part of the season.

The move to joint ownership is said to safeguard the club's future

However the rise of Tamworth meant they finished second and had to go into the play offs.

Scunthorpe were then beaten by Boston United on penalties.

Now they're preparing to mount another promotion challenge for next season with a renewed sense of optimism around Glanford Park.

Michelle Harness told the club's website she believes the move to joint ownership will safeguard the club's future.

She also said the they're running on a day to day sustainable model.

However she added that to grow the club she needed more support and that's why the joint ownership idea was brought in.
