Police ramp up patrols after woman attacked whilst walking her dog
The victim has injuries to her face following the attack
Nottinghamshire Police are increasing their patrol presence in the city following an attack on a woman.
The victim was walking her dog on Friday evening (January 14th) in Killisick Park in Arnold when she was struck to the ground and hit multiple times.
As a result of the attack, the woman now has multiple injuries to her face, but has since been released from hospital.
In the interest of public safety, police patrols in the Arnold area have been ramped up to highlight police presence and discourage future attacks.
Speaking about the incident, Neighbourhood policing inspector Chris Jury from Nottinghamshire Police called the attack "cowardly" and would do what they could to find the culprit.
“We are working hard and pursuing lines of enquiry to find those responsible for this cowardly attack," he said.
“While our enquiries into this isolated incident remain ongoing, we have increased our patrols in the park and surrounding area to provide reassurance to the public and show people that we are there for them. Our colleagues at Gedling Borough Council have also put extra neighbourhood warden patrols into the area."
Police are also appealing for information, asking anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack and had seen or heard anything unusual to get in touch as soon as possible.
Reassuring the public, Inspector Jury that the frequency of attacks like this in Nottingham is rare.
“Thankfully assaults such as this are very rare in Arnold this type of incident is very much unusual and out of character for the park but I’d like to reassure people that we are treating it very seriously and we will continue to do everything we can to keep people safe.”
