Patients are being warned they may experience a long wait when attending A&E at hospitals in Goole, Scunthorpe and Grimsby if they do not need emergency treatment.

It's because they are experiencing very high levels of demand and are extremely busy.

People are being asked to consider alternative options for minor ailments, such as visiting your GP or pharmacist.

A spokesperson from NLaG, said:

"Our hospitals are experiencing very high levels of demand and are extremely busy. Those attending A&E who do not require urgent emergency treatment may have a long wait to be seen as we prioritise the patients most in need.

"To anyone considering coming to A&E, please only attend if it is absolutely necessary and consider alternative options for minor ailments, such as visiting your GP or pharmacist.

"If you have an urgent medical problem and you’re not sure what to do, please call NHS 111 for advice or use their online service."
