North Lincolnshire Council calls for foster carers to give children the gift of a loving home this Christmas
The initiative kicked off with a Fostering Film Showcase.
North Lincolnshire Council’s fostering team has launched its Christmas campaign, Give the Gift of Home, aimed at celebrating the transformative power of fostering and encouraging people to consider fostering this festive season.
The campaign reflects the importance of family, care and belonging during the holidays, highlighting the roles that foster carers play in changing lives.
The initiative kicked off with a Fostering Film Showcase held at The Ropewalk in Barton upon Humber. Attended by fostering team members, carers, social workers, and fostering-friendly partners, the event premiered a short film created alongside local organisation Know Film.
The film captures real-life experiences shared by local foster carers and young people and is the product of months of collaboration between professionals, carers and young voices.
Councillor Julie Reed, cabinet member for children, families and communities, commented: “The film is a heart-warming reminder of the vital role foster carers play and how they help to transform lives.
“As we head into the festive season, Give the Gift of Home reminds us that the greatest gift we can give is care and a place to belong.”
Pete, co-owner of Know Film and a former foster child, said: “Creating this film wasn’t just another project for us. We’re passionate about showing the impact that foster carers have.”
As part of the campaign, the fostering team will attend various festive events across North Lincolnshire, including the Christmas Pantomime at Baths Hall in Scunthorpe and Normanby Christmas Market, to spread awareness and festive cheer. Families visiting these events can enjoy activities and giveaways while learning more about fostering.
