New funding will allow police to target anti social behaviour across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincs
The cash is from the Government's "levelling up" agenda
Humberside Police are planning to take up more of the government’s levelling up fund to tackle problem areas in East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.
Some of the money has already been spent addressing anti social behaviour through their safer streets campaign.
We spoke to Jonathan Evison the Humberside force's Police and Crime Commissioner.
He said places like Scunthorpe and Grimsby have already benefitted from some of the cash.
"Measure such as secure doors, CCTV, alley gates, improved lighting, storage facilities for bikes and bins".
"You reduce crime and it makes residents feel safer in the neighbourhood".
"There's hotspot funding so you could target with extra patrols in those hotspots".
"But the Government has an idea about what they want to do, it could be violence against women and girls or domestic violence or violence in general".
"We apply for that target and then apply it to our areas".
"We shall be applying for further funding, there's 50 million available".
"When that comes down from the Home Office we will be there and using our skills to get some of that money for the police."
