A new record has been set in the men's race at the Hull 10k, shaving twenty four seconds from the previous record.

Samuel Roberts completed the course around the city centre in just 30 minutes and 59 seconds.

His time was 24 seconds faster than the record set by Jo Maddick, of 31 minutes 23 seconds.

Thousands of spectators lined the streets to watch runners raise money for various charities, with a minute of applause also held at the start of the race in honour of Rugby League legend, Rob Burrow CBE, who passed away last week following a battle with motor neurone disease.

Starting at 09:30 on Alfred Gelder Street, the 10K route took in several of the city’s most popular and iconic landmarks, including the Humber Dock Marina, the award-winning aquarium and Hull Minster.

In the men's race, after Samuel Roberts, came Oliver Donkin, from Barton & District AC who took second place in a time of 00:32:39, followed by Joseph Harding who took third place in a time of 00:32:47.

Hannah Jacobsen was first to the finish line in an impressive time of 00:38:14 in the women’s race, and was pushed all the way by runner up Elzbieta Lisowska and Lesley Connors, who clocked 00:39:30 and 00:41:42 respectively.

Kalem Bennett took part in the men's elite wheelchair race and clocked first place in a time of 00:46:02.

Entries are now open for next year’s Hull 10K, which will be staged on Sunday 8th June 2025
