Murder Investigation Launched After Man Dies In Hull

The man was violently attacked on the Selby Street footbridge in the city last night.

Police in Hull have launched a murder investigation after a man died from a serious assault.

The local man in his 40s was violently attacked on the footbridge between Selby Street and Arthur Street at around 8 o'clock last night.

He was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary but died a short time later.

A murder enquiry has been launched and a police cordon remains in place at the scene.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Matt Baldwin is appealing for information. He said:

"This was a violent assault that took place at a time in the evening when several people were still out and about and it is vital that we speak to any witnesses who might be able to assist us.

"The family of the victim is being supported by specially trained officers and detectives are now making extensive enquiries in the area.
