Murder investigation launched after man dies in Hull

A man has died after being seriously assaulted.

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a 35-year-old man at hospital after sustaining serious injuries at a property on Lee Street, Hull on Tuesday 8 August.

Police were called just before 6.45pm reporting an altercation at the address between two men.

The victim, 35-year-old Kabelo Sam Mokoena was taken to hospital but sadly died yesterday afternoon (Thursday 10 August). A post mortem is due to take place in the coming days to establish the cause of death.

A 58-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident before being released on bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Cockerill, from the Major Crime Team who is leading the investigation said:

“I would like to express my sympathy to Kabelo’s family at this sad time. We have specially trained officers actively supporting them as part of the wider investigation and keeping them informed of developments. My team are speaking to residents in the area to establish the full circumstances that led to Kabelo sustaining his injuries, whilst also providing community reassurance. I would urge anyone with information that is pertinent to the investigation to get in touch and support us with our enquiries.”
