Murder investigation launched as man dies following assault in Hull

The victim’s family are being supported by specialist trained officers

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Hull.

Officers were called at around 7.45pm to reports that two men had been assaulted in the park on Vane Street on Monday 12 June.

A 53-year-old man sustained a life-threatening head injury and was taken to hospital to receive medical treatment where he has today, Monday 26 June, died from his injuries.

Lance Kingsley, aged 21 of Spring Bank was charged with grievous bodily harm and assault by beating on Thursday 15 June following the incident.

He is next due to appear at Hull Crown Court in connection with the incident on Thursday 13 July.

The officer leading the murder investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Burnett from Humberside Police's Major Crime Team, said: “The victim’s family are being supported by specialist trained officers at this incredibly difficult time, and our thoughts remain with them as they come to terms with their tragic loss.

“I would like to thank members of the public who have already assisted with our investigation, and continue to appeal for anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident or has CCTV footage that may assist with our enquiries.
