Police have released a 19-year-old man under investigation after a fire at a home in Hull which killed three pets and destroyed the house.

The family inside managed to escape unharmed on Bonfire Night- it's believed a firework was posted through their letterbox.

Humberside Police now want anyone who saw what happened, or may have videos of the incident, to get in touch.

Detective Constable Ross Paterson, who is leading the investigation, said: “This was a really serious incident, which could easily have cost someone their life.

“As it is, a family has been left without a home and a number of animals were sadly killed in the fire.

“We are doing all we can to establish exactly what happened and how the fire came to start.

“We have already been out tracing any CCTV which may have captured the incident and are also keen to speak to anyone who was filming in the area or may have dashcam footage.”
