Humberside Police have launched a murder investigation after a 39-year-old man died following a serious assault outside a property on Westbourne Avenue in Hull.

The emergency call came in to police at 8.12am today (Monday February 15) reporting that a man had been stabbed outside an address on the street.

The victim, a 39-year-old man, was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary, but died as a result of his injuries.

Officers have arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of murder and he remains in police custody.

A cordon is in place at the scene and a post mortem is due to take place later today.

The victim has not been formally identified, but specialist Family Liaison Officers will be supporting his family.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Wendy North said:

“At this stage we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this murder, however it is really important that anyone who heard or saw something at around 8am in the Westbourne Avenue come forward. Just because we have someone in custody, we still need witnesses to call Humberside Police on 101 quoting log 94 of 15/02/16 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Police say this murder is not connected with the murder on West Parade in Hull last night.
