Man charged after police officer and dog injured in Grimsby

A man's due in court charged with a number of offences after a policeman and his dog were injured during an incident in Grimsby.

20-year-old Joshua Murray, of no fixed address, is charged with two counts of wounding, aggravated burglary, a firearms offence, possession of an offensive weapon and criminal damage in relation to injuries suffered by PD Logan.

Officers were called to Corporation Road, Grimsby, at 5.50pm on Monday (March 12) following reports that a pensioner had been attacked by a man armed with a knife.

A 68-year-old man received stab wounds to his arm and back and was treated at Hull Royal Infirmary, while dog handler PC Ian Sweeney suffered injuries to his face, legs and chest.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
