A man's been arrested on suspicion of drink or drug driving - after two cars were seen speeding along Cleethorpes seafront.

It happened around 2am on Friday - when police pulled over the two vehicles.

The two drivers were issued with S59 notices - one of the drivers was arrested and has been released under investigation.

Neighbourhood Policing Chief Inspector Paul French said, “These two young men have been warned and hopefully they will change their behaviour.

“Racing along public roads is not only extremely dangerous for our residents but driving at high speeds can result in a serious injury or fatal crash.

“Our residents continue to report concerns about drivers and motorcyclists riding along the sea front in an antisocial way.

“In response to their concerns we have already increased both foot and vehicle patrols in the area and have done a lot in recent years through Operation Yellowfin to reduce road related antisocial behaviour.

“We are currently working with North East Lincolnshire Council on new ways in which to prevent it further and will be shortly announcing a new initiative to combat this issue.

“I would appeal for residents to continue to report incidents of antisocial driving and riding, that way we can respond to their calls and catch those responsible.

“I know how proud some young people are about their cars so I would advise them to be responsible and drive in a safe and legal manner. Otherwise it might be their pride and joy which reaches the wreckers yard.”
