LATEST: Man shot by Police in Hull

A 31 year old man has been injured this morning after shots were fired by officers.

A 31-year-old man was injured at 9.37am today after shots were fired by officers.

Armed officers were deployed to the Holderness Road area shortly after 9.20am, following reports of concerns for the safety of the public in relation to a man seen near the Post Office in Holderness Road, Hull.

The man, who cannot be named, is now receiving medical attention.

An investigation is underway and the incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission. They have said:

"We have begun an independent investigation after a man was shot and seriously injured in Hull during an @Humberbeat incident this morning."

"We understand he was shot after officers responded to an incident in Hull city centre at approx 9am. He is receiving treatment at hospital."

"Our investigators have been deployed to the scene of the @Humberbeat police shooting in Hull and to the post incident procedure"

Humberside Police say they are nott looking for anyone else in connection with the incident at this time.
