A further 1,004 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus across Hull and East Yorkshire as of yesterday (Wednesday, January 26).

The Government’s latest rolling figures show the number of infections recorded across the region was 2,883 for Hull and 3,144 in the East Riding in the seven days up to Friday, January 21, the latest with weekly data available.

A total of 102,292 new coronavirus cases were recorded yesterday, bringing the total since the pandemic began to 16,149,319, with 346 new deaths also recorded, making a total of 154,702.

The figures come as Government guidance recommending people work from home and requiring masks in indoor venues is due to end tomorrow.

They also come as research based on new Office for National Statistics (ONS) data suggests some ethnic minority groups face a greater risk of death from coronavirus, in part due to vaccine coverage and social factors.
