Latest Coronavirus figures for Hull and East Riding

A further 549 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus across Hull and East Yorkshire as of yesterday (Tuesday, February 8).

The Government’s latest rolling figures show the number of infections recorded across the region was 2,412 for Hull and 2,708 in the East Riding in the seven days up to Thursday, February 3rd, the latest with weekly data available.

A total of 66,183 new coronavirus cases were recorded nationally yesterday, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 17,932,803, with 314 new deaths recorded, making a total of 158,677.

The figures come as pharmaceutical company Pfizer revealed it had made £27bn from sales of its coronavirus vaccine last year, making it one of its highest-earning products.

They also come as Welsh tourism leaders said an upswing in ‘staycations’, holidays in the UK which became popular after the onset of the pandemic in 2020, looks set to continue this summer based on booking figures.

In hospital: 100 (+ two from Monday, February 7)

In intensive care: three (no change from Monday, February 7)

The local areas currently worst affected by Covid are:

Snaith (1,556.5 cases per 100,000 people)

Bransholme Central (1,294.7 cases per 100,000 people)

Bransholme East (1,249.6 cases per 100,000 people)

The local areas with the lowest Covid rates are:

Bridlington North and Bempton (457.2 cases per 100,000 people)

Beverley South (487.4 cases per 100,000 people)

Molescroft (509.9 cases per 100,000 people)

Covid death breakdown for each area:

The number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test result in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new deaths, and deaths removed from the total following revisions to past data, in brackets.

Hull: 783 (Up one from Monday, February 7, up six weekly to Friday, January 28 to 846 with coronavirus on death certificate)

East Riding of Yorkshire: 929 (Up one from Monday, February 7, up five weekly to Friday, January 28 to 1,046 with coronavirus on death certificate)

Vaccinations:

Government data up to Monday, February 7 shows that in the UK, 138,650,801 jabs have been given so far, 52,447,403 first doses, 48,617,355 second doses and 37,586,043 boosters.

The local data shows:

Hull: First dose 190,053 (78.1 per cent), second dose 173,810 (71.4 per cent), booster 128,297 (52.7 per cent)

East Riding: First dose 283,623 (90.2 per cent), second dose 269,028 (85.5 per cent), booster 226,556 (72 per cent)
