As thousands of kids in Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire start their SATs this week, there's concern about the pressure it's putting them under.

A fifth of children in Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire lost sleep while doing their Key Stage 2 SATs tests last year.

While 1 in 6 said that they couldn't eat because of nerves.

Research out today by Kellogg’s suggests more than 96,000 pupils could have gone into their exams last year feeling hungry.

1 in 8 children claim they didn’t eat most mornings of SATs week, with girls almost twice as likely as boys to abandon breakfast.

Teachers have previously reported that hunger can have a real impact on performance, with 82% believing that hungry children are unable to concentrate at school.

Those who did eat often failed to have an appropriate breakfast. 58 of the 1,000 say they drank an energy drink – up from 30 last year; thirty-three admit to drinking coffee; and 41 had chocolate or sweets.
