A group of men and women who planned to carry out a kidnapping plot in Hull have been sentenced to a total of 28 years.

The group travelled from across the country, including one man who flew over specifically from the Netherlands, with the intent of kidnapping.

Officers say they received reports from the owner of an AirBnB in Goxhill in January last year.

The owner said the booking was made by a woman for a family trip with her baby, yet three men showed up.

Officers attended, suspecting the men were committing burglary.

The men ran, but officers managed to arrest two of them.

When they were searched, officers found a piece of paper containing the Airbnb address and details of a house in Hull marked as ‘target’.

A search was conducted at the address on Barrow Road, and balaclavas, hammers, nails, rope and cable ties were found.

Further searches of the AirBnB in Goxhill resulted in a firearm and ammunition being recovered.

Investigations revealed an elaborate international kidnap plot involving three men and two women who have now been sentenced.

Anthony Andjole, 30, who flew over from Amsterdam, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the regulation of investigatory powers act; conspiracy to kidnap; and possession of a firearm with intent.
