It's three months now since investigations into an East Yorkshire Funeral Directors got underway, after concerns for the welfare of the deceased were raised at Legacy Independent Funeral Directors.

The bodies of 35 deceased people were recovered from their Hessle Road branch in March, with two people, a man and a woman arrested.

The pair were later released on bail, pending further investigations.

Today (11/06), Humberside Police tell us their inquiries are still ongoing, with specialist teams looking into allegations of suspected financial and fraudulent activity at Legacy.

They also say that they have now formally identified all 35 bodies recovered, and are in regular contact with their loved ones.

Assistant Chief Constable Thom McLoughlin has provided the following update "We are in a position to confirm that following our work with His Majesty’s Coroner, the formal identification process of the deceased recovered from the Hessle Road site has now concluded, and each family has been contacted by their dedicated Family Liaison Officer and updated."

"To ensure the families’ wishes and privacy have been respected and to allow them time to try and process what has occurred, we made the decision to not publicly release any details of those recovered from the Hessle Road site."

"Investigations into allegations of suspected financial and fraudulent activity are continuing, with dedicated, specialist investigation teams conducting various lines of enquiry and following up on numerous leads and information."

"A man and a woman previously arrested in March in connection to the investigation remain on police bail as further work and enquiries continue."

Anyone who hasn't already spoken to police, but have information they want to share are being asked to contact them, and anyone who believes they might be affected by the investigation are being asked to contact Victim Support’s 24/7 independent helpline on 0808 281 1136.
