Police say there will be increased patrols in Hull following a disturbance on Spring Bank in the city, where a group of people were fighting in the street.

Eight people have since been arrested in connection with what happened on Sunday (30th July).

Detective Inspector Matt Grantham has updated on the investigation:

“Over the course of the last two days, officers have been, and continue to conduct numerous lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances that led to the fight on Spring Bank.

“As a part of enquiries so far, we believe what started as a disagreement between two families known to each other, then escalated into the disorder.

“Whilst this was an isolated incident I understand the shock this has caused for the local community, however I want to offer my assurance that there is no wider risk to members of the public.

“Violence, of any kind is not tolerated and we will do everything we can to make sure nobody is made to feel scared or fearful in their own community.

“A total of eight people have been arrested in connection with the incident, two remain in police custody and six have been bailed with strict conditions as enquiries continue.

“I would please ask anyone with CCTV, dashcam or video recorded on a mobile device showing the incident that has not yet spoken to us, to please call our non-emergency number 101, quoting log 337 of 30 July.

“Residents can expect to see an increased police presence as our Neighbourhood Policing team step up patrols providing reassurance to those living in the area.

“If you have any concerns, please speak to our officers when you see them out and about.”
