Humberside Police urge caution as lockdown restrictions lift
They're also thanking residents who've adhered to guidelines since the start of the pandemic
The Prime Minister appealing to people to exercise their new freedoms with "caution" as most mandatory lockdown restrictions in England are finally lifted.
Social-distancing rules have now ended and face masks are no longer mandatory in shops and on public transport, limits on gathering have gone and the work from home guidance has ended.
Nightclubs, theatres and restaurants can fully reopen, while pubs are no longer restricted to table service only.
Humberside Police have released the following statement:
Assistant Chief Constable Darren Downs said:
“Firstly, I would like to thank residents within our Force area who have adhered to guidelines since the start of the pandemic and throughout the government vaccination process.
“Although the restrictions have now been eased, we will continue to urge people to remain vigilant to ensure personal safety and that of others. Guidance remains in place and masks in public places are advised.
“As we continue to fulfil our duty as a police force and to provide the level of service to those that need it, our officers will continue to wear masks to ensure we are able to protect you as members of the public, the officers themselves and also their families.
“This continues to be a strange time for most, and many will feel anxious about the final phase of restrictions easing. We must remain cautious but also respectful of other people views should they wish to follow previous mandatory guidance by continuing to wear masks and social distance.”
