Restorative Justice allows victims, through a controlled method contact those who carried out crimes against them.

Remedi facilitate the positive communication between victims and perpetrators of crime. This can be either face to face, through a phone call or even letter writing.

It's hoped to give victims closure to what happened and find out the reasons why the crime was committed against them.

Everyone who is a victim of crime across the Humberside Police region is able to request communication and are being encouraged to make the most of a unique opportunity.

Matthew Grove, Police and Crime Commissioner believes that this helps give victims closure and also offers something which the court systems cannot provide.

Viking FM spoke to Laura from Grimsby, who said that after being racially abused whilst at work, she found that meeting her perpetrator answered lots of questions for her and allowed her to regain her lost confidence at work.

An ex-offender from Hull also told Viking FM that meeting his victim has changed his life. He says it opened his eyes to the true effect that the crime had on the family involved.
