Local projects aimed at tackling crime and anti-social behaviour across Humberside can apply for funding to help.

The Community Safety Fund launched by Police and Crime Commissioner Jonathan Evison in May is now open for a new round of applications.

It offers grants toward the costs of crime reduction and community safety projects and providing support for victims of crime. It is designed to kick-start local projects that will cut crime and anti-social behaviour and improve residents’ feelings of safety.

The fund can provide grants of between £500 and £35,000 and is open to non-profit organisations, charities, community groups and social enterprises together with Town and Parish Councils. Examples of projects could include:

  • Measures to improve the safety of outdoor public spaces, community buildings or assets.
  • Activities and support for groups of people who may be particularly at risk of becoming victims of crime, or have previously been victims.
  • Activities and support for groups of people who may be at risk of being drawn into criminal behaviour.
  • Community events and activities with a focus on crime and safety issues.

This second funding round will close at midnight on 3rd October.

Priority will be given to projects which can deliver by the end of March 2023.

Round Two is much the same as Round One but the Application Form and guidance have been updated so applicants are encouraged to refer to the updated guidance when completing their funding bid. There are also some useful FAQs to help applicants.

Police and Crime Commissioner Jonathan Evison said: “We had an excellent response to Round One of the funding programme with some outstanding project ideas coming forward and we are now progressing those that were shortlisted to the contract stage. I’m looking forward to receiving the next round of applications so we can work with communities to cut crime and anti-social behaviour and make our neighbourhoods safer.”
