Hull Wilberforce Institute hires staff to look into modern slavery

The Wilberforce institute in Hull are conducting research into modern slavery after they say the problem is getting worse.

Hull Wilberforce institute is hiring more staff to look into the problems of modern slavery

Two new lectures have been appointed to help training to businesses and professionals in the field to tackle modern-day slavery.

The team are conducting research into modern slavery after they say the problem is getting worse.

Trevor Burnard is the director of The Wilberforce Institute, he said:

“We are doing a variety of things to try and mitigate the evils of modern slavery might be. There are 12-13,000 people in Britain who are considered to be in modern slavery.

“We will be combining with the law school at The University of Hull to do wok on supply chains, child exploitation."

The events this year will be put on by three university areas: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Team, the Wilberforce Institute for the study of Slavery and Emancipation and the Hull University Students Union (HUSU).
