A Hull student who has autism is paving the way for young people with disabilities to get acknowledged in the workplace.

Seventeen year old Adam Nielson who attends a college for people with complex needs recently set up a campaign calling on employers to be disability inclusive.

After being at Northcott Sixth Form for six years - He feels the support that he gets at college will come to a stop when he gets a job.

Adam said:

“Thinking about getting a job after leaving the six form is a bit scary especially for someone with a disability because you do wonder what the future is going to be like."

Adam has been using social media and his webpage Be Proud Be You HEY to reach out to businesses across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire, he said:

“If you’re going to do something, show us what you’re doing. It’s why I set up a page. People with disabilities need to know how they matter in the work place so they need t start showing us what they’re doing.”
