Hull's three MPs will meet the Health Secretary today to discuss concerns about Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

They'll ask Jeremy Hunt to conduct an investigation into former Chief Executive Phil Morley following allegations of bullying when he was in charge.

The meeting will also be used to ask what is being done to help alleviate pressue at the Hull's A&E department which has been struggling with a recent surge in demand.

Hull North MP Diana Johnson told Viking FM:

"We are really concerned because the trust's former chief executive, Phil Morley, has now got a very high-paying job at another trust in the south of England. We think it's wrong that when chief executives preside over a hospital that has got many problems and make it much worse, that they then should be rewarded by getting another job in the NHS somewhere else.

"When things go wrong, they should be held accountable and I just think it's absolutely wrong that a chief executive who caused mayhem it seems to me at Hull Royal Infirmary is now being rewarded with a £170,000 job in a hospital in the south. I think he should be held to account for what he did in Hull.

"There have been some very serious allegations of bullying, also poor quality of service and there's some concerns about lack of financial control. I just think there are real questions to answer and I don't think it's good enough for the Secretary of State to say it's nothing to do with him because he ultimately is responsible for the NHS in this country."

Ms Johnson says problems at Hull's emergency department is also a key concern:

"In the last few weeks we've seen an unprecedented demand on the A&E at Hull Royal Infirmary. We know just a few weekends ago that there were 16 ambulances queuing outside trying to get patients in so we want to talk to Jeremy Hunt about that. There is a little bit of money that has been made available to help but we think that there are other issues that need to be addressed."
