The boy's electric scooter was also stolen
A Hull man's facing more than four years in jail after a 12-year-old boy was threatened with a weapon and had his electric scooter stolen.
26-year-old Declan Laws from Terry Street in Hull was today (June 9th) found guilty at Hull Crown Court of robbery and possession of a bladed weapon in a public place.
On February 3rd 2023 Laws had pulled out a machete on the boy before taking his scooter on Chedale Close in Hull.
The boy was shaken but not harmed during the robbery
Laws was sentenced to four years, five months in prison.
Speaking after sentencing Sergeant Downs said,
“Carrying a weapon such as a knife or machete is an extremely serious offence. I hope this sentencing serves as a warning to others that the possession of an offensive weapon in a public place will always lead to a custodial sentence.
Thankfully in this case no one was hurt but it could easily have been very much more serious.”
