A 34-year-old man from Hull who carried out a sustained and brutal'' attack on his then-partner in Immingham as he clutched her four-year-old daughter under his arm has been jailed.
Louis Morgan left the woman motionless and unconscious on her own driveway after repeatedly delivering blows and kicks to her body, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said.
The attack, which left the victim with life-altering injuries, supposedly began when the thug accused her of being unfaithful.
A spokeswoman for the CPS said: Part of the attack took place whilst Morgan was holding the victim's four-year-old daughter under his arm.''
When a 66-year-old neighbour intervened in an attempt to end the violence Morgan, of Manvers Street, Hull, hurled a plant pot at her home, before using a kettle to smash through a window and climb inside.
Whilst there, a spokeswoman claimed that he retrieved two knives from her kitchen, before repeatedly stabbing her in the face, neck and arms.
Morgan pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of the neighbour and causing grievous bodily harm to his then-girlfriend following the attacks, which happened in Immingham, Lincolnshire, on February 12.
He was handed a 25-year jail sentence by a Sheffield Crown Court judge on Wednesday, the CPS said.
Speaking after the hearing, Detective Inspector Jo Taylor, from Humberside Police, said that the attacks had left both victims with significant injuries'', adding:
Our thoughts remain with them and their families, who will have to live with the consequences of Morgan's actions for the rest of their lives.
Hopefully, today's sentence will help them to start to put the events of that night behind them.''
Jeremy Evans, from the CPS, said: This was a sustained and brutal attack on two completely defenceless women, which left them both with extremely serious injuries.
His first victim suffered traumatic brain injuries and although thankfully, she is slowly recovering, she is still suffering life-altering side effects.
The second victim suffered stab wounds and lacerations to the face, head and neck as well as psychological repercussions as a result of the trauma.''
Mr Evans said the crimes were brutal and violent'', adding that the court has heard of his history for using violence against ex-partners
