Hull man found guilty of manslaughter
It's after the death of a man following a single punch
A Hull man's been found guilty of the manslaughter of another man who died following a single punch.
It happened in November last year.
Scott Akester died following a drunken disagreement outside a Pub in the city after he was out drinking with friends.
30-year-old Michael Pearson from Saltshouse Road in the city has been found guilty of manslaughter after he punched Scott. This caused him to fall backwards and hit his head on the floor.
Emergency services were called but the later died in hospital.
Pearson is due to be sentenced in June.
Detective Chief Inspector Al Curtis said:
“Scott’s death was utterly needless and as a result of Pearson’s mindless actions with no regard for the consequences.
“A single punch has caused a devastating impact, resulting in a man losing his life and a family left without their loved one.
“I would like to thank Scott’s family for their patience and courage during the judicial process. Nothing can bring Scott back, but I hope they feel a sense of justice has been achieved after today’s outcome.
“Crimes like this will not be tolerated and we will always take action in a bid to deter violent crime in our communities.”
