Hull KR reject Jamie Peacock's resignation offer
It comes after the club were relegated from Super League at the weekend.
Hull KR have rejected a resignation offer by Hull KR's Jamie Peacock.
The club's head of rugby offered to resign following their relegation from Super League over the weekend - but it's been declined by chairman Neil Hudgell.
The Robins were releagted after being defeated by Salford in the Million Pound Game at Craven Park on Saturday afternoon.
Peacock said in a statement issued by the club:
"To be in a dressing room with grown men, wives and children crying is not what sport is about.
"To be part of a club with such loyal, passionate support is very humbling and the reaction after such a defeat will stay with me for life.
"The messages from within the club and across the game made me feel very lucky to be part of the RL community.
"I gave everything I could to the club this year and came up short. I always want to be accountable for my actions in life and offered my resignation to Neil after the game. This was turned down which means I can continue my journey with this great club.''
Peacock says he will now start a root-and-branch'' overhaul in a bid to not only help the club back into Super League but turn them into a force.
"While relegation hurts, it allows the club to stop just trying to change the branches and begin a full root and branch overhaul of the rugby department, building rock solid foundations that will enable this club to rise again and become a force within the game".
Meanwhile, investigations are continuing today to identify those involved in disorder following the Hull KR V Salford match on Saturday.
Match commander Superintendent Tracey Bradley said:
“We have already made arrests, but our work will not stop there.
“An investigation has been launched to identify more of those who became involved in the incident.
“Rugby matches should be friendly sporting events that families can attend and enjoy. We will not allow the minority of people to spoil such occasions and are working closely with both clubs, as well as our colleagues with Greater Manchester Police, to deal with those who do seek to become involved in violence and disorder.”
A 27-year-old Salford man and 16-year-old Hull boy were arrested on suspicion of affray following the pitch invasion.
A 36-year-old Beverley man was arrested on suspicion of assault ABH in connection with a further incident in Londesborough Street.
All three have been bailed to a date later this month. Supt Bradley added:
“It is worth noting that the vast majority of the fans in attendance at the match took no part in the disorder and have joined the force and both clubs in condemning the behaviour of those who were involved.
“I would appeal for anyone with information about the identities of those who were involved to contact us, so appropriate action can be taken.”
