Hull KR coach urges squad to draw inspiration from club’s history ahead of Grand Final
The Robins are travelling to Old Trafford for a trophy decider
Hull KR head coach Willie Peters believes his squad must not get inspiration from the club’s rich history as they prepare for the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford this Saturday.
The Robins secured their spot in Saturday's grand final with a hard-fought 10-8 victory over Warrington.
Head coach Willie Peters has credited club owner Neil Hudgell for their success, stating that Hull KR wouldn’t be in this position without his dedication and support.
As the Grand Final approaches, Willie Peters insists on staying grounded, saying that while the team should enjoy the moment, maintaining focus is key. “You’ve got to make the most of Grand Final week, but we’re keeping the focus,” he said, adding that he will stick to the same consistent training approach that has brought the team success so far."
Head Coach, Willie Peters, said:
"I'm proud. Now I can reflect and have a look how far we've come well before my time and what Neil Hugdell has done for this club. If it's not for Neil, we're not around and there's a lot of stories around him and some other people that have helped put us in the position that we are now.
"This all started with Neil Hugdell. We all must recognise that you have to enjoy being in Grand Finals and Grand final week. They don't come around too often, but there's one game to go and we're going out, obviously to try and win that title.
"The players know we've done things around that before, but Neil holds a fair bit back as well. I want him to let out everything that this club's been through to get in the position that we're in now, and he's got a story to tell and I want him to continue telling the story.
Talking about this week's training approach, Willie added:
"We want a very similar sort of approach. There's no doubt about that because I've always said your preparation if you're consistent with that, you get it—more of a consistent performance.."
