A Hull group which has been supporting refugees camped in Calais - say they're now hoping to help thousands more caught up in the migrant crisis across Europe.

Volunteers from Hull Help For Refugees have just returned from delivering hundreds of donations to Calais and Dunkirk.

But say they're now turning their attention to the likes of Greece and Croatia - where thousands more are in desperate need.

Maud Morrish told Viking:

"We are really focusing on Greece at the moment and especially because we have a lot of women's and children's clothes so we are going to look at some of the money we have raised to send a freight liner there and we are also going to look at Croatia. Obviously there's a lot going on in Hungary and we would love to send some people out there but the police can be quite aggressive and we don't want to put anyone at risk but we will be looking to send out a container.

"It's easy to send things to Calais as you can drive down and I think you're always at the risk of maybe poverty tourism a little bit. We don't want to be in the situation where people are just going because they fancy a look, we want to make sure people are a help and not a hindrence. But I think other than that we should not send any more donations to Calais until late October, November now.

"It was shocking for me to go to Dunkirk and see children there, I wasn't expecting that and seeing them walking along with all these sleeping bags and there was a tiny child just carrying this rucksack.

"When we went down to the actual jungle in Calais we had individual bags with a little bit of food such as an onion, some rice and oil, nothing spectactular but I've never seen people that hungry and desperate."
