Hull FC: release Jake Connor
Connor still had one year left on his contract at the MKM Stadium but was released early to enable his return to West Yorkshire
Hull FC have agreed to release full-back Jake Connor from his contract with immediate effect - for family reasons.
Huddersfield have now re-signed him.
The 27-year-old signed from the Giants in 2017 but will return to the John Smith's Stadium to be closer to his home and young family.
Connor still had one year left on his contract at the MKM Stadium but was released early to enable his return to West Yorkshire.
He had helped Hull to a Challenge Cup triumph at Wembley in the year he joined and went on to make 142 appearances, scoring 41 tries during that time.
Connor told Huddersfield's official club website:
"I'm absolutely buzzing to be coming back. Although it wasn't an easy decision it's definitely the right one for me and my family. I feel like I've got some unfinished business at the club and I've got some old mates here that I can't wait to catch up with.
"I'm really looking forward to working under Ian Watson and also Luke Robinson who I know well. I've played against Ian's sides on numerous occasions and they're always well drilled. We've got a good squad and a good structure and I can't wait to be a part of it and enjoy my rugby."
Giants head coach Ian Watson said: "I'd like to welcome Jake back to the Giants, he is a huge signing for us. Jake is a player I have admired from afar, and is a tough competitor who wants to win at all costs and will drive people in his team to be better and want more.
"Last year we were the fourth-best attack in Super League and, hopefully, adding Jake into our team can propel us to score even more points while maintaining our defensive mentality.
"This is a great moment for Huddersfield to get back one of our own players."
A statement on Hull's website read:
"Connor has given notable service to Hull FC over the last six years having signed from the Giants in 2017, including earning a Challenge Cup winners' medal in that year.
"However, the club believes it is in everyone's best interests to progress in a fresh direction for 2023.
"Everyone at Hull FC would like to place on record our thanks to Jake for his performances on the field over the last six seasons and wish him and his family well for the future."
