A Hull dad will today set off on a 65-mile trek across the Sahara Desert in memory of his daughter who was stillborn last year.

Despite a full, healthy pregnancy - Steve and Hayley Dickinson's little girl, Lucy, was born without a heartbeat last February.

He'll spend the next 6 days in scorching heat, surrounded by nothing but sand - to also raise money for local charity Abbies Fund which provide memory boxes for grieving parents.

Steve told Viking there's not a day goes by he doesn't think about his daughter:

"It's difficult because there are reminders every day. You see children going to school and you think you are never going to be able to do that, it was Mother's Day and Christmas recently. It would also have been Lucy's first birthday last month so there are constant reminders all year round so you never forget it, it is always there.

"The memory box we were given by Abbies Fund helped me and my wife cope better as we had time to gather memories that we wouldn't have thought of.

"Stillbirth is a lot more common than people think. There are 17 a day in the UK and the UK is the worst in Europe for stillbirth rates so it is a big problem and I just wanted to help other people, it is something that never goes away for me."

Steve has already raised over ÂŁ10,000 for Abbies Fund. You can donate by clicking here: mydonate.bt.com/ fundraisers/stevedsaharawalk
