Lemi Sanli drove for twelve hours in treacherous road conditions to Ardhana from Istanbul as soon as he saw a worrying video from his baby monitor.
He's been telling us about what happened
"I'm very upset my wide and daughter had to go through this scary experience on their own."
"As a man and husband and father it's not a great feeling to see that."
"We are very scared to spend time in the building."
People are sleeping outside, often in tents
"We spend our days sitting in cafes trying to stay warm, walking about."
"Trying to stay away from high storey apartments - some are still collapsing."
"The weather temperature seems to have dropped through the floor, people are sleeping outside with nothing, some people are sleeping in tents - it's messed up."
"A lot of people go to cafes for warmth."
As I was driving I saw bodies
"In the evening we go back to out summer house."
"The wife didn't have shoes because she had to leave in a rush."
"She's been walking around in slippers and no socks."
"It's cold, there's no heating where we are, the water is really dirty since the earthquake."
"The drive home on a good day takes 12 hours and the road conditions were dangerous."
There were pile ups, there were bodies, as I was driving on motorways it was really really bad."
