Hull City have announced footballer Ryan Mason's retired at the age of just 26 - a little over a year on from fracturing his skull while playing for them.

The midfielder clashed heads with Chelsea defender Gary Cahill in a Premier League game.

He'd only joined from Tottenham for a club record fee of around 13-million pounds a few months before.

Mason's one England cap came in a friendly against Italy three years ago
