John Hilton, one of the directors of Pulse Rate Group, and a local dad wants to make first aid training an easier and cheaper skill on the national curriculum.

John strongly believes that children need to learn this vital lifesaving skill, not only that but they have the ability at a young age.

Research shows that over half of us don't feel confident enough to save a life using first aid. Whilst 24% of us wouldn’t administer first aid ourselves, but would wait for an ambulance.

John told Viking FM that this simply isn’t good enough and many people die a year in situations where simple first aid could have saved their lives.

This is one of the main reasons behind teaching first aid at such a young age. It’s hoped to create a new generation who have the skills and more importantly the confidence to carry out first aid.

John is working hard to get this put into schools in the Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire, with hopes to expand.
