Hull Bleach Attack Teen Sentenced
Rebecca Morris will serve over two years in prison for the attack last August.
A teenager has been sentenced to over two years in prison for throwing bleach in the face of a young model in Hull.
18-year-old Rebecca Morris admitted throwing bleach at the 17-year-old back in August last year.
Today, she was told by a judge at Hull Crown Court that she's to serve 27 months in a young offenders institution for the attack which happened at a house party in west Hull.
The 17 year old victim temporarily lost her sight and was only saved from serious harm after her friend washed her eyes with a cola drink.
However two months later, the victim attempted suicide and says she feels like she can't model or go to college anymore as she's lost her confidence and self-esteem.
Prosecutors also outlined that there was ill-feeling between the two girls - who were both students at Hull College - after a complaint was already lodged against Miss Morris.
In passing sentence, the judge said that the incident was so serious that an immediate custodial sentence was appropriate and necessary.
Miss Morris, who had already pleaded guilty to throwing a corrosive liquid with intent to burn, maim, disfigure or disable - or do some grievous bodily harm, was also given a four-year restraining order meaning she cannot contact the victim in any way.
