Hull and Grimsby MPs discuss threats of violence and intimidation
It's after new security measures were brought in

MPs across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire have been speaking out about the harassment and intimidation they experience.
Earlier this week a 30 million pound package to protect MPs was announced which includes bodyguards for those most at risk
Hull West and Hessle MP Emma Hardy says being kind to each other will become even more important as we build up to this year's general election.
She told us: "We need to all think about the roles we all play in making sure we can debate and discuss and disagree passionately but without leading into threats and intimidation."
MPs from all sides have raised concerns
"This is also about why there are security issues with both islamophobia and anti semitism on the rise in communities."
"People are telling me as well they feel intimidated displaying their faith, they feel intimidated by hate crimes they're feeling as well."
"MPs from all sides of the house have raised concerns - this isn't related to one particular party."
"We all receive advise on security from the police and houses of Parliament and of course my office follow all the advice given."
Many colleagues have experienced harassment
Grimsby's MP says she feels while extra money for MP's security IS vital it still fails to address the underlying issues surrounding increased harassment and threats.
Lia Nici says many colleagues have experienced issues.
She said "I don’t know any of my Conservative colleagues who haven’t had harassment of some sort, or threats of intimidation or violence — in some cases death threats,”
“When we were elected in 2019, all MPs and their staff were issued with personal alarms."
"Our homes were security checked and alarms, CCTV and other security measures were installed as deemed necessary.
That isn’t something new.”
