Hull and East Yorkshire Citizens Advice "inundated" with calls about cost of living crisis
Many are struggling to cope with the cost of living crisis
Hull and East Yorkshire citizens advice says they've been inundated with calls from people struggling to cope with the rising cost of living.
Many are now facing energy bills which have doubled, with evidence many are in serious difficulty.
It’s nearly two weeks since the energy price cap rose by 54%.
We've spoken to the CAB in Hull and East Yorkshire about what they're seeing.
Andy Coish from the branch told us: "It's really tough because as Martin Lewis has said what tools do we have left?".
"Plus there's the council tax rebate, which I know people are working really hard on, trying to help people giving them budgeting advice - but that only goes so far".
"Even those priority numbers and priority contacts we're struggling both locally and nationally to get quick responses and it's quite difficult because lots of communications are still by phone or webchat or email".
"They don't know what to do, they don't know where it's going to end because we're all aware the energy cap in October is likely to be even higher".
"This is stage one of a two stage process at least."
