Man critically injured after crash involving police car

Humberside Police have referred themselves to the police watchdog

A man is in hospital in a critical condition after he was hit by a police car in Hull.

The collision happened as the man was crossing Holderness Road at around 20:20GMT on Saturday.

Roads Policing Inspector Tony Tinsley said, “The marked police vehicle was responding to a report of a burglary when it was in collision with the man on a pedestrian crossing.

"The man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries and he remains in a critical condition.

“A mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) who will be conducting an independent investigation into the circumstances of the collision.”

Police are appealing for witnesses and are asking to see any dashcam footage.

They've also referred themselves to the police watchdog.
