An open top bus parade will be among the celebrations taking place in Grimsby tonight to mark the Mariners' promotion back to the Football League.

Thousands of fans are expected to turn out to pay tribute to the players.

It all gets underway from Blundell Park at 4.30pm and will be followed by a civic reception at Grimsby Town Hall, which starts at 7pm.

It means a number of roads on the route will have to be temporarily closed during the event, and motorists in the area are being warned to expect some delays.

Mayor of North East Lincolnshire Council, Cllr Cliff Barber added:

“Yesterday was a terrific day, one which made me very proud for both the club and the town, and I’m delighted we’ve been able to arrange a civic reception so quickly. Successes like this need to be celebrated in the right way and I’m sure fans will turn out in large numbers tomorrow to say well done to the players and officials who made it such a great day for the Mariners.’’
