Grimsby Town Gears Up For Wembley!
It's their chace to get back in the Football League.
Excitement's building as Grimsby Town prepare to head to Wembley for this week's playoff final...
Over 10 thousand fans are set to make the trip on Sunday - and hopefully watch the team get promoted to the Football League after 5 seasons in the Conference.
They have a tough clash against Bristol Rovers in the final but Mariners' boss Paul Hurst believes they can finish the job:
“They can go win the game. Yes it’s a difficult opponent, but you’re not going to get an easy opponent in the playoff final. And it means even more, if you can get the better of them, when you know you fully deserve to have won promotion.”
“We’ve worked extremely hard and put in a lot of work and dedication to the season and this is the culmination of it. The 48 games that have gone before count for nothing now. We’re down to a one off game, and I just hope we can produce on the day.”
However it’s bad news for Gregor Robertson – he’s lost his battle to be fit and will miss the Mariners' trip to Wembley at the weekend.
The Scottish defender has been doing some running this week and joined in with a full training session today, but Town boss Paul Hurst has confirmed that he will unfortunately miss the big day.
"He's worked extremely hard but I think it is going to come too fast. I think another week and there would be no doubt at all.
“Naturally he's disappointed, but in fairness to Greg, he said that the game is far bigger for the club than it is for himself.”
But other than that, Hurst has no other injury concerns.
