A total of four men have now been arrested over the last two days in connection with a report of 'gunshots' being heard in Grimsby.

Police were called to attend the area after a member of the public reported what they believed to be gunshot sounds on Rutland Street, at approximately 4:20pm on Thursday.

Superintendent Paul French said: “I can confirm that we have arrested a further two men in connection with the incident and our enquiries are continuing.

“I want to reiterate that this was an isolated incident between individuals known to each other and we do not believe this incident to have been of any wider risk to the public.

“I completely understand an incident of this nature will cause concern amongst residents. I would like to offer reassurances that our dedicated teams are patrolling across our local areas as we carry out further enquiries and speak with residents to provide reassurance.

“Speaking with East Marsh residents whilst patrolling this morning, it was clear to see the pride local residents and businesses have in their local community – and we very much share that.

“I want to be absolutely clear that we continue on the front foot alongside partners in our targeted efforts to take action against those who engage in criminality in our local communities. This behaviour is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.

“We are absolutely determined to tackle criminality across our local areas and to ensure our local communities feel safe and protected - that will always be our main priority.

“Over the coming weeks members of the community can expect to see extra officers in the area both to carry out enquires and to speak to the community.

“We are continuing to appeal for anybody with information that may assist with our enquiries, or if you have dashcam or CCTV footage of the area around the time of the incident, to contact us via our non-emergency 101 number, quoting log 315 of 27 October.

“If you would prefer to report information anonymously, you can do so by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
