The full programme of events for next month's Freedom Festival in Hull has been released today.

The three-day arts and culture event will see over 200 acts and attractions spread over 30 venues and stages in the city centre and Marina.

Last year - it attracted over 100,000 people to the city.

Amongst the newly-released additions to the line-up - which takes place on 4th-6th September - is a new Bandstand on Wellington Street at Hull Marina, offering an eclectic medley of theatre, dance and more.

The Bandstand will include performances from Middle Child Theatre, who are currently gaining rave reviews at the Edinburgh Festival, plus acclaimed international cabaret act Hoopelai and shows from Hull Dance.

Returning following its successful launch last year is the festival’s Bridge Stage for emerging talent, which has a new home on the Hull Marina quayside.

The stage will include a Friday night headline slot by Black Delta Movement. Hotly-tipped Hull-based newcomers Fronteers, currently gaining national airplay and being touted as ones-to-watch, will also perform amongst a strong Bridge Stage line-up that includes Young Jack, La Bete Blooms and many more.

Queen Victoria Square in Hull city centre will host Gone in 20 Minutes, a UK-wide programme that supports and showcases new outdoor arts projects.

Six acts will each perform four times over Freedom Festival weekend in the hope of winning the audience’s vote and scooping a £1000 prize, transforming Queen Victoria Square and Savile Street with circus, tap dance, juggling, contemporary fusion dance, promenade street theatre and more.

Also new for 2015 is The Little Village for young festivalgoers, which features a variety of fun, interactive attractions for families.

The new programme additions will appear alongside previously-announced acts including Public Service Broadcasting; two Saturday night spectaculars, Periplum’s The Bell and Over and Out from Walk the Plank; James Taylor Quartet; Shappi Khorsandi; Bonnie Greer and many more.

Jenny Coombes, Executive Director, Freedom Festival Trust said:

“We’re thrilled to release full details of the festival programme now we’re just three weeks away. The introduction of the Bandstand and Little Village will bring a fresh feel to the Fruit Market area, while the return of the Bridge Stage offers another exceptional line-up. Visitors can now read about all the fantastic talent on this year’s programme, ensuring they don’t miss their favourite artists while discovering new acts that could end up being amongst their festival highlights.”

Councillor Terry Geraghty, Portfolio holder for Leisure & Culture, Hull City Council said:

“Each year, the Freedom Festival line-up gets bigger and better. It will be a tricky task for festivalgoers to decide exactly where to go and what to see, as the programme is so vast. Hull is set for another highly memorable weekend which we’re very pleased to be supporting again.”
