A new fishing themed mural unveiled in Hull
It's as people remember 50 years this week since the Gaul trawler tragedy
As people across Hull remember 50 years this week since the Gaul trawler tragedy which claimed the lives of all 36 crew - a new mural will be unveiled at the MKM Stadium.
Andy Pea has been commissioned to create the fishing themed piece:
"Something like this when you get a call like this - it's incredible to be able to come back to do something for the city, you know for the community for the whole of Hull.
"All the teams from Hull City - to Hull FC to Hull KR have collaborated on this mural.
"As much as it's for the Gaul, it's about the whole heritage of the fishing heritage for West Hull."
A number of events will take place on Saturday 10th February including:
New mural unveiling, MKM Stadium: The unveiling of a new mural from artist Andy Pea.
Hull City v Swansea City game, MKM Stadium, 2.40pm to 5pm: The Gaul Tragedy is to be commemorated at the match.
It's comes as Hull City have united with the city's rugby league clubs to mark the 50th anniversary of the Gaul trawler tragedy, in partnership with the Gaul 50 group.
The Gaul sunk off the coast of Norway in February 1974. The sinking was described as the worst ever single-trawler tragedy at the time.
Hull city will be paying their respects to the lost trawlermen at the match against Swansea City
There will be a 36-second silence prior to kick-off.
Andrew Clark is head of marketing at Hull City:
"It's really poignant and our thoughts will be with the 36 who lost their lives on the Gaul
"We also have members of Hull FC and Hull KR - they're joining us to commemorate pre-match with a short display prior to kick-off, which'll be a really nice touch".
