There are fears East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire could suffer further flooding later this week as Storm Ciaran brings heavy rain to the region.

Yellow weather warnings are being issued for Thursday and Friday covering part of the east Yorkshire region just north of Hull.

It includes Driffield, Hornsea and Beverley.

It comes after problems were experienced in several parts of the area over the weekend including at Beverley, Walkington and Pocklington with some clean up operations still in place.

A small number of properties suffered flooding

Flood warnings still hold for Hornsea and Alkborough near the River Trent north of Scunthorpe.

The East Riding of Yorkshire council has revealed there were 35 call outs for flood related issues over the weekend.

A small number of properties experienced flooding.

Now they're preparing for Storm Ciaran later this week.

We spoke to Carl Skelton acting director of the streetscene service at the council.

He told us: "We have a potential storm approaching the area from very early Thursday."

"We're looking at preparing for that now."

We're warning the public and will close roads if we have to

"I would urge anyone who is affected - particularly if they have water in their property to contact the council for any assistance we might be able to give."

"Quite a significant amount of rain fell during Saturday evening and Sunday morning."

"It's low lying areas with some water courses overtopping and obviously affecting highways adjacent to the water courses."

"It's really about signing and warning the public and closing the roads where we have to."

"If anyone is aware of anyone who's affected by water in the property please contact the council."

He says that if there's danger to life and limb you should contact 999.

For other flood related issues you should call 01482 393939 if you're in the East Riding of Yorkshire council area .
